The Rover Plus Club Show 2008 at

    the Morganian Rugby Club Bridgwater

We raised £800 for Macmillan Nurses

during the club show this year.

The presentation of the cheque to

Macmillan Nurses will be on Saturday

13th  September  at 2pm  at  the

   Morganian Rugby Club Bridgwater.

We were on  the  show  field  from the Wednesday

prior to the show  weekend  marking  out the areas

for  the  camping  and  exhibitors and  putting out

direction  signs  to  the  show  all  around  the area.

The Stall holders and those that were camping started

arriving on the Thursday.    On the Friday evening we

spent a  few  enjoyable hours in  the  club house having

a  few  glasses  of  lemonade and  enjoying the music,

provided  by  Paul and  the Blue  Ridge  Runners.

It  started  raining  at  6pm and  continued late  into

the night. On the Saturday morning it was damp but the

field is very well drained, We had a very good turnout of

classics on the Saturday and even more on the Sunday when

by then the field had dried out. The Saturday night Disco

was well supported when a few more glasses of lemonade

were consumed. There is no truth in the rumour that the

lemonade that Rita was drinking was a little stronger than

normal.  See pictures from the show in Gallery.

Thanks  to  all  who  attended the show.

And  the  brilliant  news  is  we  raised  £800  for

    Macmillan Nurses,

The cheque presentation to Macmillan Nurses has been

arranged for 2pm on Saturday 13th September at

the  at The Morganian Club Bridgwater.

                 Paignton

We just managed to squeeze in all the club

vehicles onto our club stand in a central

position in the showground, we had the

new club banner on display, (see pictures

in Gallery) The sun was out with just enough

sea breeze to make it comfortably, the nice

weather brought lots of people out mingling

amongst the vehicles, we again had lots of

interest in the vehicles we had on display.

(Thanks to Jim & Family for making us welcome

and providing a spot for Ted to park the trailer.)

                   Portland

At Portland we again this year set up a joint

club stand with our friends from:

The Bournemouth & Poole Preservation Club Ltd.

     Link:          http://www.bppcltd.co.uk/

With vehicles from both clubs completely filling

the club stand, we think we had the most varied

selection at the show, ranging from the old to the

unusual. The weather was dry over the weekend,

but being right out at the end of Portland Bill it

    is always slightly breezy.

The site is being developed into a large Hotel complex.

The owner has said he welcomes the show to return again

    next year.

                 Powderham Castle

On the Saturday despite the wet conditions

we had 6 of the club vehicles on display.

It rained most of Saturday afternoon and

through the night, we went again to the

Smugglers Inn in nearby Holcombe for an

evening meal, the meal was brilliant.

The decision was taken early on the Sunday

morning to cancel the event, all efforts were

then made to assist the vehicles already in the

showground to get out onto the hard surface.

       South Molton

We enjoyed the weekend at the South Molton

Vintage Rally, some of us camping over until

       the Monday morning.

We had vehicles in our club display ranging

from 1932 until 1991. ( see photos in Gallery)

We enjoyed the Saturday meal in The Old Coaching

Inn in S. Molton on Saturday evening so much that

we went there again on the Sunday evening.

Overall a brilliant weekend despite Terry waiting for

several hours on the A361 for the AA to sort out a

tyre problem with his 1960's caravan.
